THE LABORATORY FOR POLYMERIC BIOMATERIALS & SUSTAINABLE POLYMERS RESEARCH @ FISK
Welcome!
We are a synthetic chemistry group of undergraduate and graduate students at Fisk University, interested in the design and development of polymeric materials for biomedical applications.
This website evolves with the group. Stay tuned for updates and improvements.
GROUP NEWS
ABRCMS 2022
November 9, 2022
Elizabeth Daniels and 4 other MARC scholars shared their research progress at the 2022 ANNUAL BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE FOR MINORITIZED SCIENTISTS (ABRCMS). It was truly a great and inspiring conference. Looking forward to ABRCMS 2023!
RESEARCH PRESENTATION
November 9, 2022
Dr. Beezer presented the group's progress towards the synthesis of innovative biomaterial scaffolds to study cell-material interactions.
RESEARCH FUNDING
August 9, 2022
The group has received funding through the DOE Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (MSIPP) to help develop highly qualified science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) students and foster a well-trained, technically skilled, and inclusive workforce. This funding will further our efforts to develop smart affinity-based polymeric nanoparticles for capture and release applications. (award # DE-EM0005266)
WELCOME ALEXIS AND KYRA!
August 9, 2022
The group welcomes its first graduate students Alexis Robertson and Kyra Banks, from the Fisk-Vanderbilt Master-to-PhD Bridge Program. Glad to have you both!
SUMMER RESEARCH
June 3, 2022
The group welcomed its first cohort of summer students. Sania, Madison, Joshua, Lisa and Faben. Glad to have you all! Here's to a productive summer!
RESEARCH FUNDING
June 1, 2022
Our research group was awarded an NSF Research Initiation Award to design synthetic polyglycidol-based polymeric networks to influence cellular behavior (EES 2200484). Congrats!
